Over the last 50 years British artists have been pioneering Systems Art and Computer Art. These artists create artworks using personal rules or by writing computer programs that generate visual forms. GV Art gallery, London is showing a selection of this work in July in the exhibition ‘Automatic Art’. See our exhibition listing page for more details.

The speakers at ‘Art and Systems’ are Jasia Reichardt and Stephen Bann. In 1968 Jasia Reichardt organized the ICA, ground breaking, exhibition ‘Cybernetic Serendipity’. The Arts Council exhibition ‘Systems’ toured in 1972-3 and Stephen Bann wrote the penetrating introduction.
