Vicki Clark (born 1960) is a contemporary artist who has lived and worked in the South West of England for over a decade.  Her semi-abstracted landscapes are inspired by the coast and country around her. Her work presents an emotional response to the particularities of time and place, and the elements at play within it.

After leaving the Royal College of Art in 1985 with a Masters degree in textiles, Vicki enjoyed a successful career in the fashion industry, working with brands such as Burberry, Next, Viyella and Windsmoor. The opportunity and impulse to paint arose after leaving London for Dorset in 1996, where Vicki's rich understanding of fabrics translated into a strong feel for texture in her work.

Vicki's canvases are as bold and vivid as the environment that she loves. Her layered application of paint creates a language of marks thorough which the onlooker is invited to step into, and become encompassed by, the landscape.

Vicki's work celebrates Dorset, and the Jurassic coast of Portland in particular. It reminds us that there are qualities in our experience of place that are fragile and transient.
